WoW Weekly Report 1/26/10

This week’s Weekly Report is up.

Gold Sellers have gone insane. I was witness to a legion of newbies running around with gold selling site names. They’re getting desperate. The economy of the game is going haywire and things are working against them. The price of gold is falling and rising, there are legions of teleporting farmers going under the world to gank titanium nodes, and accounts are getting hacked left and right.

Fugitve Tracked Through World of Warcraft

Howard County Sheriff’s Department deputy Matt Robertson tracked down a fugitive he was after by finding out he was a World of Warcraft player.

After speaking to several people, Robertson found out that the fugitive he’d been after for the last two years, Alfred Hightower. was an avid WoW player. He then contacted Blizzard hoping they would help him in his search. Three months later he received a reply supplying Robertson with Hightower’s IP address, account information, billing address…even his online screen name.

Armoury Update

Blizzard has updated the armoury with many new features including:

  • Character Model Viewer: The character model viewer displays a character as he or she appears in-game. You can pan and zoom the camera, play animations, and save a default pose for everyone who visits your profile to see.
  • Activity Feeds: See a character’s most recent in-game actions, including achievements, boss kills, loot acquisitions, and more. You can customize your character feed and export it as an RSS feed, too.
  • Calendar Feeds: Export in-game player calendar data to online calendars such as Google Calendar, and automatically sync with your characters’ in-game calendars.
